The Virtue of the Word
Elder Mark D. Eddy
General Authority Seventy
“The Virtue of the Word”
Elder Eddy invites us to "try the virtue of the word of God" and "drink deeply" from the scriptures.
Speaking of Alma making a difficult decision, he was able to make the decision by listening to the spirit and relying on the word of God.
When lost in the dark and searching for illumination, or heartbroken and wishing for something to hope for, rely on the word of God to find answers.
While yearning for someone we love to be brought to sing redeeming love, let us remember to try the virtue of the word of God.
“Word of God" means the Savior as the word and the words of the Savior.
“There is virtue in the words of ancient and modern prophets precisely because their words are the Lord's words - accepting this eternal truth is critical to our spiritual survival in the latter days.“
Elder Eddy said prayerfully studying the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, will help individuals draw closer to Christ and make better decisions.
Everyone must drink deeply and often — directly from the source of the word — by seeking Christ.
